Fathers day two years ago
-but that year Fathers day was on the 13:th)

Noak holds a picture of his cousine Karl.

Karls father is Erik Magnusson (my brother)

Eriks father is Gunnar Magnusson (my father).

Gunnars father is Lars Johan Magnusson.

Lars Johan father is Magnus Jonasson.

Magnus father is Jonas Elofsson.

Jonas father is Elof Elofsson.

Elofs father is also Elof Jonsson.

Elofs father is Jon (or Jöns) Elofsson.

Jon (or Jöns) father is Elof Olofsson.

Elofs father is Olof.

Olof was borned in late 1500, something.

They all lived in Värmland
(where I was borned and raised)
within 20 km from eachother...

Happy fathers-day to all fathers!

What a nice photo!!
So with your grand-grandfather the Swedish people gave up to name their children after the father, right?

My family moved a lot during the generations.
Do you feel very rooted to Värmland?
We always discuss, which roots we've got, over here and I'm sure there are not only "eart"-related roots..

In a way I do feel rooted there and yet I don´t. It is a complex question. I am always carrying a longing for home. But I don´t know where that is.

yes a very complex question... where are yõur roots..

I can´t answer clearly either!

I love you can trace your generations. I can only trace until about my great grandfather...it´s funny how my family from both sides being poor rural farmers don´t have any photos or records of births or deaths. I would have to go to the church to maybe be able to trace back to early 18 th century.

It leaves me a little empty....

all the best to father´s of sweden :)*

Mother gave me my computer when I turned 40. Then she got one herself... She became interrested in geneology. So she is tracing roots on both her and dads side.

Sweden is paradize for people who are looking for ancesters... There are lots of records in the churches. On my fathers side they have tracked one branc back 16 (!) generations. Although you seldom get more than a name and what year they lived and where...

I really wish to be able to tell Noak a little about who were before us. I understand very well how you say it leaves you feeling a little empty.

oh there's handsome little Noak! cute little belly button there too. :).

hi Olga, surprised to hear you say you feeling this longing for home and not knowing where it is. i guess you must be talking about something that is beyond knowing or being where your loved ones are...

To Uschi again. I definately feel my roots are in Värmland, yes. But feeling rooted there is another thing. Makes sense??

To Mien; the house of my childhood has changed so much. Not the same spirit walking through the rooms... So, I guess I am just talking about something as simpel as a house.

I must add that it feels very right and very important to go visiting there with Noak. Somehow it feels like I am giving him a little piece of land - his own little piece of earth - by taking him there.
