No, I´ve never taken a portrait for a client.
I do feel passionate about photography, and when you mentioned it, it actually made me start dreaming of doing that! But tell me, could one both be painting portraits and shooting portraits, and still be considered serious? Even if it were to be two totally different approaches to the portrayed. I don´t know.
I have to tell you that it helps having your glorious wings to put in the hands of "the subject". It gives the picture a good start, sets the mood. Makes the picture interresting even before I start shooting! So could I use Susanna-wings if I´ld ever start taking pictures for clients, please?

you also do shooting photos for preparing your paintings, isn't it?
You try to capture the charakter and spirit of the person you want to paint because he/she will not be able to sit in front of you for many times.
If you, like you definitely are, are a good painter you have to be a good photographer, too.
So, in my opinion you are both!!
And that's only logic ;)
You could ask, why people want to have an oil-portrait of themself today, because the technic of photography is the "modern" way to take ones portrait!
But that's another question.
It's not only logic: I love what you do...any kind of portrait!
Of course I don't mind at all what you do with those wings, Olga! Go for it! I am so pleased that you like them.
Yes, I do think you could/should paint AND do photography and still be taken seriously. I think as artists, we often think we should focus our attention on one art medium. Maybe we learn that in art school, when we have to pick one (or two) art majors...? As a friend once told me, "It all comes from the same place."
